I dont understand how i missed the point on this beautiful movie. I saw it in theaters when it was released. I found it very disapointing. Five years later as a young adult my brother and i rented it. Like a right hook from Marciano i was knocked out by the second viewing.
Nothing since has moved me the way this film has.
I discovered your website after watching Joe with my wife and son on Starz. Intrigued i googled the film and discovered your website. Thank you for those very thoughtful essays on the meaning of the film.

I too am so sorry to see Ossie Davis pass. I was listening to Air America which made the announcement and played an interview with him they had made just this past November.
Folks, you may have noticed that the "sign guest book" button was missing for a while. We were getting spam several times a day (I was spending an inordinate amount of time deleting it) an I hoped that removing the button for a month or so might deter the bottom feeders who feel the need to do that sort of thing. We'll see. I have no intention of removing it permanently, however. Whenever it is off and you feel the urge to post, drop me an email and I'll flip the switch for you.

I was shocked when I heard Ossie Davis had passed away, he was one of my favorite characters in JVTV!
MARSHALL
Listen, ain't you got nobody?

We sure are gonna miss Ossie Davis (Marshall, the limo driver in JvsTV) who passed away today 02/04/05. A very talented and gifted actor with a long list of movies to his name.
