I have loved this movie since the year it was released.I think it is absolutely profound and I quote from it all the time. Many people have never even heard of it.It touches my heart and there are times when I too feel soul sick and I watch Joe for comfort. The music is a great bonus. Many of the tunes are songs that I sang to my children when they were little and the haunting "Marooned without you" does just that...haunts me.I have seen this movie more than any other movie and I will always hold it near to my heart.

Having recently moved into an office with 8 others, I've begun to empathise with Joe. The Music and quotes courtesy of your site have given me a few private moments (via headphones) amongst the mayhem.
I'm beginning to believe that this is a seriously under-rated film, from a photography, design and music point of view.
My favourite quote is Mr Waturi holding up his hands in a fixed rectangle, telling Joe he wants him to be ".. in a flexible frame of mind!"
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for creating the site. Great job and great inspiration to all.

I rented the movie last week, after seeing it in the late 90's. It was turning out to be a great love story. The music was so pretty, especially the vocal, marooned without you.

When I saw it last week, my heart told me to go to get a soundtrack and a CD, which I plan to do.

When I read through the entire site, I realize that, all of us cherished the same thing, love. We will sacrifice ourselves to the person whom we love. Like Joe, he gave up all water, so Patricia would survive. They sacrificed their lives together by jumping into the volcano, when the mighty one rejected it.

There are several beautiful and wonderful things hidden in this movie. I will definitely get a copy for sure.

Thanks again for your marvelous work. You are great !!

Okay, first, you rule for keeping this site up as long as you have. A few years ago you were debating the demise of this endeavor - well, you probably always are to some degree, right? I sent you a comment begging you to keep it going, and I'm glad you did.

If you are inclined to send me your soundtrack, I'd love to have it keep me company on the way in to American Panascope every morning.

Like so many of Joe's devotees, I am always (and sickeningly so) drawing parallels between 'Joe' and my own world. My Brain Cloud is simply the BS that I pretend to care about every day in the work-a-day world, despite the fact that I actually like most of the people I work with.

Since watching the movie every week would be disasterous (I don't want to ruin the joy), your web site keeps me going. God, that's sad, but its true.

Keep it up, man.

Hey Joy,
it was the Ink Spots who sang "I Cover The Waterfront." Hope this helps.

I am trying to find the name of the singer who sang "I Cover the Waterfront" in the movie. I think it may be Lester Young, whom I believe recorded it with his band in 1948. I know that Lester was a saxaphonist, but did he sing the song as it was performed in Joe vs the Volcano?

Woah Dan! That's quite interesting news about the lamp. Almost worth making the "short" trip from Atlanta. Next time I'm on Oahu, I'll certainly venture to the north shore.

Any details you can share about the lamp would be appreciated. I assume it doesn't have a music box, right?

If you get REALLY industrious and have a digital camera, could I con you into taking a snap or two and attaching it to an email to me?

In any event, thanks for the report. The one question I continue to get in feedback is "where can I buy the lamp?"

I bought a nearly identical lamp at the Hale'ewa general store on the North Shore of Oahu. 90 bucks, but they don't ship, so you have to go there and do it yourself. Bring good luggage.
