I too love this movie. I just found this site and have not read all the posts. Hopefully my bit of trivia is not a reptition of someone else's post.
The Statute of Liberty woman (Jennifer Stewart),who is pictured briefly in the film) was still working as the Statute of Liberty as of 2001. We were in NYC shortly after Sept. 11th, and she was standing in the middle of a street that was closed to traffic, soliciting donations for the World Trade Center relief effort. She raised over $12,000. We have not been back to NYC since, so I don't know if she is still doing this.

Jessie as far as I've heard they have always meant to put out a soundtrack for the movie but it's never happened. I've done the next best thing by downloading off of Imesh the more obscure songs and getting the rest on cd, although I am sure you could get all of them on Imesh. If you want them, e-mail me.

My boss has forced me to work back at the NASA Johnson Space Center where almost all the offices SUCK! They are forcing me to work in this darkened, windowless, half rotted hole that reminds me of the office that Joe worked in at the begining of the movie. The people at NASA are a lot of demotivated, unhealthy, civil servant types. It just sucks.
Where can I get a lamp like Joes? I want to put in on the un-ergonomic piece of trash they call a desk to send a message - though I doubt that any of these "asleep at the wheel" NASA types will even have a clue what it is for.
They will probably make me get rid of it because it hasn't been approved by 14 different Safety commitees.

The chords are F and C. One bar of F, two bars of C, and another of F, like Hank Sr.'s "Jambalaya."
On a tenor ukulele, tuned DGBE, the fingering is as follows:
F:
E-5-
B-6-
G-5-
D-7-
C:
E-3-
B-5-
G-5-
D-5-
(Note: I think when I first tried to figre this out it was F sharp and C sharp, so it's possible my uke is out of tune now. But this will give a general idea.)

Hi, great site! I actually have a question, I really really like the music from JVTV, not just the Georges Delerue stuff, although it is beautiful but also the other songs like "16 tons" and that fabulous version of "blue moon" and tom hanks singing the cowboy song. I see that you can listen to those songs on this website but does anyone know if there is a place you can actually buy the soundtrack that has those songs on it as well? Because the only soundtrack I've found is just the tracks composed by Delerue. Anyway, if anyone knows anything I'd appreciate it, if not that's okay.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou for your site. "Joe versus the volcano" is a movie that touched me deeply in and continues to do so. I was very impressed by what I felt and learned and continue to learn from this simple yet subtly complex movie - and your site has helped lessen a great angst I had that more people did not either know of, or apppreciate this movie. Thanks for putting it all together and rekindling the fire.

It is encouraging to see such an appreciation for this movie - it is such an obscure gem. I am pleasantly surprised. I thought only a handful of us "got" it. Pretty cool wedding ceremony - simple and to the point. Never leave home without the luggage.
Very good website.

This movie is amazing. It's great for us 'searchers'. The people who don't like it are the 'asleep' ones. We're just in complete amazement. ;-) If anybody ever runs across one of those lamps, let me know. I'm looking and thinking about making one.
