One of the great movies of modern times. Thanks for all the goodies. They're good little monsters.

I think this movie is a classic only in the way that it uses symbolism throughout the whole movie. I especially like the scene where he is on the trunks and sees the moon come up, sort of expressing the idea that he has recognized his GOD, even though he doesn't know his name, and is in awe. The soundtrack for the whole movie fits every scene and brings out emotion to the fullest.

Meg Ryan's best three performances ever, Tom Hanks is adorable as usual, and all the other characters are great too. This special movie gets sweeter and more artistic with each viewing. If only John Patrick Shanley would write and direct some more films, all of life's most meaningful questions (not to mention luggage problems) would be answered in a poetic, poignantly human way.

What more is there to say after reading your guestbook? You have an incredible site, which is appropriate for this incredible movie!! Very well done, all the terrific sounds and pictures and thoughts make me just wish I could find a copy of the movie somewhere besides the raggedy old one I taped off of cable years ago! Thank you for the all the hard work you put into making your site a spectacular one, it is going right to the top of my bookmarks!

I love the movie, and I love your site. Serendipitously, I caught the movie on late night television last night, and I woke up this morning in a JVTV mood. Your site had all my favorite lines and some enjoyable comments about the movie. Thanks.

JVTV is, and has been, my favorite movie since I saw it the first time on March 9, 1990 in Syracuse, NY, while in graduate school. Although it seems silly, this movie has had a tremendous impact on me. There are parts, the scenes on the floating trunks, with the rising moon - that are as profound as any moment in any movie I have ever seen. There are dufus scenes too-- most having to do with the Waponi-Woo. But then we must have a volcano!
It has been 9 years since this movie first came into my life - and I will share it with a friend tomorrow, via a private VHS copy. JVTV is not for everyone - but, for the ones who catch its message, its magic, you can never listen to "16 Tons" or "The Cowboy Song" in quite the same way again…
